"Two teenagers at the centre of an armed police callout in Palmerston North were firing guns in a PlayStation game, only to be confronted with the real thing outside their house.

Hamiora Canterbury and Zane Lafaiki, both 18, were caught in the middle of an Armed Offenders Squad callout in Highbury yesterday.
The pair were playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on their PlayStation, a combat-based video game, when armed police circled the Somerset Cres house calling for them to come out with their hands up"

....

"Police arrested a woman at the house when she was found to be wanted on another matter, Stavropoulos said."

How convenient a woman was arrested at that house also, I wonder if pretexts are used to justify the search of homes without warrants.  May or may not be in this case, but i do wonder if pretexts are used.
